Brand new project - Piper Meridian converted to a PT6A-135A , to make it a XR135A Conversion

M500 Meridian converted
July, 2023

Having ideas how to make aircraft quieter and more efficient, MT-Propeller took the Piper Meridian as a new program, replacing the original PT6A-42A engine with a PT6A-135A engine. Initial flight test data show basically the same performance, reduced noise with a maximum propeller RPM of 1900 and an increased range of:

RANGE:
(Max. range with max fuel (ISA, MTOW, no wind, one pilot, 45 min fuel reserve)

203 KTAS cruise speed: 1340NM (2479km) @ 30000ft
203 KTAS cruise speed: 1290NM (2387km) @ 28000ft
240 KTAS cruise speed: 1160NM (2146km) @ 28000ft
258 KTAS cruise speed: 960NM (1776km) @ 25000ft

The flight tests were performed with a 5-bladed Quiet Fan Jet MTV-27 Propeller, the propeller is already certified on the original Piper Meridian and can be used also – if already installed – on this conversion.

Maintenance cost will be reduced by installing the new engine.
Changing the engine family from the mid-size category to the small-size, makes an impressive difference for the operating cost.
Direct cost per mileage will be similar to the PA46- 350P Lycoming-powered Mirage, but with a top speed of up to 260 KTAS @ 30,000 ft. EASA certification is planned for second quarter of 2024 with the FAA STC following.

75 FLYING PC-12 enjoy MT's Silent 7 propeller

PC-12 with MTV-47 The silent 7 Propeller
July, 2023

The world's first 7-blade propeller is now installed on 75 Pilatus PC-12 aircraft in Europe and the USA.

The installation of The Silent 7 MT-Propeller on the Pilatus PC-12 sets new limits for certain applications, exceeding the performance of 5-blade propellers.

The advantages of The Silent 7:

  • certified takeoff performance improvement by 20%, improved climb and cruise
  • a very low noise level both in the cabin and outdoors , like jet-like noise
  • a very smooth operation

The Pilatus PC-12 STC with The Silent 7 MT-Propeller meets the highest noise regulations in European countries for unrestricted airport operations.
In April 2023, the STC for the Pilatus PC-12 combined with the 7-blade MTV-47 propeller was again updated to reflect the improvement in certified performance in the AFMS, reducing the required take-off length by approximately 20% compared to the original certified data. Already converted PC-12 aircraft can receive the latest certified performance range of MT propellers.

The 100 000th MT-Propeller blade was manufactured May 2023

PC-12 with MTV-47 The silent 7 Propeller
July, 2023

MT-Propeller natural composite blades have been a success since they were first built.

Because of their natural composite construction, they are much lighter than aluminum propeller systems, have a higher vibration dampening coefficient compared to foam core composite blades.
By this they also reduce vibration because the composite material does not support harmonics. No restricted rpm ranges, red bands for those blades on certified installations. Those blades have an unlimited blade life, because they can be brought back to the exact factory dimensions during overhaul. Even after a ground strike the blade tips can be rebuilt to the new original dimensions.

The first MT-Propeller blades manufactured in year 1981 are still in service.
Their light weight makes it possible to add more blades to a propeller system, which means that 3-blade conversions, for example, can run more quietly than large 2-blade systems, and in addition, smaller propeller arc disks have less drag than larger diameter propeller arc disks. Even 7-bladed propellers for turboprops are now available with lower loads on the engine during operation, compared to classic propeller systems.

This makes MT propellers the first choice for many aircraft owners and aerobatic pilots.

MT propeller blades are also the best choice for wind tunnels, airships and hovercraft.

Earthrounder Stefan Mommertz and his way around the world.

Earthrounder Stefan Mommertz with his airplane
September 03, 2019

In August 2018 Stefan Mommertz startet his way around the world with his Cessna 185 equipped with a 3-blade MT-Propeller MTV-9 on the airport Würselen-Merzbrück. Heading West the first leg of his flight led him over Iceland, Greenland, Canada, Alaska, Siberia, Japan and the Philippines, where he had to leave his Cessna for a while and went back to work.

Four months later he started in Borneo for the second leg of his flight around the world. The route followed the South China Sea to Singapur and West Malaysia over the Gulf of Thailand to Bangkok and Chiang Mai to Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Oman and Abu Dhabi.

The last leg of his way around the world in spring 2019 led him over Jordan, Aqaba, Alexandria, Kreta, Italy to Lucerne in Switzerland, where he picked up his mother for joining him on the flight back to Germany.

He flew 33,000 Kilometers in three stages and visited 4 continents and 28 countries. His total flying time was about 32 days.

Congratulation to Stefan Mommertz for his great success.

Worlds first 9 bladed prop started the flight test program

Testairplane Cheyenne with 9-blade MTV-39
March 13, 2019

Worlds first 9 bladed prop started the flight test program on March 11th 2019 and initial results are very promising.

Function, Handling and Operation on the aircraft is like those props have been in service already for years.

This new development for low noise, high performance future airplanes driven by electric powered engines, turbine engines or geared piston engines for propellers with low RPM.

Depending on propeller driven airplane designs, top speeds of up to 430 KTAS are realizable with such a installation, by reducing at the same time the fuel consumption to a turbo prop from a jet.

MT-Propeller proves with this milestone that the innovation in propeller driven airplanes is just at the beginning.

Flying a Jet comfort airplane powered with props combined with the lowest fuel consumption becomes a near future.
